Roch Carrier FIPS

2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on Ensuring Positive Learning Environments.

We are doing this to provide students with the tools to better understand their own emotions, and to engage in more effective problem solving of social conflict with their peers.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Working to build students’ understanding of their emotions and how to navigate unexpected circumstances.
  • Encouraging and supporting students to be positive leaders and role models in their school community.
  • Engage families in conversations about emotional awareness, management and resilience.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about to share a choice they made today that aligns to their desired character trait.
  • Try these questions at home with your child to keep the conversation going: What happened? What emotions did you feel? What choices did you face? What worked well? What might you try differently next time? Who has been affected by what you have done?
  • Check out this resource https://smho-smso.ca/parents-and-caregivers/  to learn more about key facts about children’s mental health, and how to support your child.
