About Us

Roch Carrier French Immersion Public School was opened as Huron Park Public School in 1953.  In 1969, the name was changed to Hillcrest Public School, to avoid confusion with neighbouring Huron Park Secondary School. Currently, the building is now called Roch Carrier and is a French Immersion School. Roch Carrier was chosen as our school name in recognition of the influence of the impact of his story "The Hockey Sweater".

The single-story facility houses students from Grade 1 to Grade 8 in twelve interior classrooms and twelve portable classrooms.  A before and after school care service is available at the school through Good Beginnings Daycare.

Our school runs on a regular day program with our start time as 9:00 am and dismissal time at 3:30 pm.  We have two fifteen minute recesses one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Our lunch hour is 11:45 am till 12:45 pm.

During the school year, the principal, Mme A. Maddox, the vice-principal, Mme. S. Chamberlain,  and the school secretary, Mme T. Kormendi, can be reached at 519-537-7321. The school fax number is 519-537-7729.
